JMIR Editor to be Inducted as Fellow into the American College of Medical Informatics

(28 Sep 2011) Gunther Eysenbach, founding editor and publisher of the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR), has been elected as fellow into the prestigious American College of Medical Informatics, an achievement which represents "recognition by peers of sustained and significant contributions to the field of biomedical informatics". ACMI has about 300 elected members ("fellows"), and 10-20 new fellows are elected by existing fellows each year. The intent of College is to "recognize and reward high quality and sustained contributions to the field of biomedical informatics". Eysenbach is one of only a handful of Canadians to receive this honor. Among other positions, Eysenbach is also a Professor at the University of Toronto, Senior Scientist at the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation, Director of Knowledge Management and Knowledge Translation at the Techna Institute, Executive Director/Producer of the Medicine 2.0 Conference Series and Network, and Visiting Professor at the University of Twente.
