Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. I verify that my manuscript adheres to all submission guidelines, consulting the full Submission Preparation Checklist (applicable to original research data). I understand that failure to meet these guidelines may result in the manuscript being returned for corrections.

2. I verify that this manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere (unless explained in Comments to the Editor). I have uploaded any related or overlapping work as supplementary files and confirm compliance with our policy on redundant and duplicate publication.

3. I verify that the manuscript complies with all Instructions for Authors and article type requirements. Specifically, emphasis uses italics (not bold or underlining), figures and tables (portrait orientation only) are placed inline within the text, and supplementary materials are prepared as separate Multimedia Appendices.

4. I verify that the submitted manuscript file is in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) file format.

5. I understand that author names and affiliations for final publication are taken strictly from the metadata form and not from the manuscript file itself (allowing name omission from the manuscript for blind review). I verify that all coauthors are entered in the metadata form and meet the criteria outlined in our Authorship Criteria (ICMJE) requirements.

6. I verify that there are no URLs in the body of the manuscript, and that any URLs are cited as references. See How should references be formatted? for more details.

7. I verify that P values are reported in accordance with our Guidelines for Reporting Statistics.

8. I have read and agree to the fee schedule, including APF billing upon acceptance (unless an active institutional partnership existed prior to submission). I will state in my cover letter whether I agree to pay or am requesting a waiver (see APF Support Policy). I acknowledge that the APF remains due if the manuscript is withdrawn or cancelled for scientific misconduct post-acceptance.

9. I understand that the Fast Track service guarantees an editorial decision within 20 working days upon payment of the Fast-Track Fee (FTF), payable immediately after submission (see What Is Fast Track?). I acknowledge this policy regardless of whether I choose to fast-track my manuscript or not.

10. I understand that if deemed more suitable for another JMIR Publications journal, my manuscript and peer-review reports may be transferred, potentially bypassing re-review. Upon transfer notification, you can choose whether to proceed and pay the APF. To opt out of automatic transfer, specify your preference in your submission cover letter.

11. I verify that I have read and understood the Privacy Policy.
