JMIR Publications and Eindhoven University of Technology Announce Two-Year Extension of Unlimited Open Access Publishing Agreement
(Toronto & Eindhoven, June 22, 2026) JMIR Publications, a leading Open Access digital health research publisher, and Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) are pleased to announce a two-year extension of their Institutional Publishing Agreement, prolonging their successful partnership through June 30, 2028.
Agreement Highlights
- JMIR and TU/e have agreed to extend their publishing partnership for two years, covering all articles accepted for publication through June 30, 2028.
- The flat-fee agreement eliminates individual Article Processing Charges (APCs) for TU/e affiliated corresponding authors.
- TU/e authors access unlimited, APC-free publishing in JMIR Publications’ portfolio of over 30 Gold Open Access journals for a single flat fee.
This extension ensures that researchers affiliated with TU/e will continue to benefit from unlimited Open Access publishing across all of JMIR’s peer-reviewed journals. By utilizing an Institutional Publishing Fee (IPF) model, the agreement removes the burden of individual Article Processing Charges (APCs) for authors. This guarantees equity for TU/e researchers of all career stages and protects their freedom to choose their preferred publication without financial concerns.
"We are proud to extend our successful collaboration with Eindhoven University of Technology," said Dennis O’Brien, VP Communications and Partnerships at JMIR Publications. "By securing this multi-year extension through our flat-fee unlimited publishing model, TU/e is essentially subscribing to open access publishing. This partnership moves beyond transactional, per-article charges to deliver absolute budget predictability for the university. We invite other library leaders to explore this collaborative approach with us, working together to ensure your institution's innovative research remains internationally visible while eliminating administrative friction for your team."
The renewal strongly aligns with TU/e’s strategic commitment to advancing Open Science as a pathway to enhance research quality and maximize public benefit.
"JMIR's journals are of high quality and interest in the field of digital health is growing. TU/e is happy to renew the partnership with JMIR for the next two years,” said Carlijn Postma, Head of Collections at TU/e.
Under the extended agreement, eligible corresponding authors currently affiliated with TU/e will continue to receive unlimited APC waivers. To utilize the waiver, authors must simply identify their primary affiliation with Eindhoven University of Technology and use their official institutional email address upon submission.
