The Journal of Medical internet Research is proud to co-sponsor the 5th Meeting of The International Society for Research on Internet Interventions (ISRII) to be held on the 7th and 8th April 2011 in Sydney, Australia. The meeting will be held at the picturesque Q Station, which is located at the historic site of the former Quarantine Station.
The 5th ISRII Meeting will bring together a range of researchers, practitioners, and technicians interested in the development, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of e-health interventions. This meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the many new developments in this rapidly growing field and to meet with new and old colleagues from across the globe.
A State of the Art Forum will be also be held on the 6th April 2011 to coincide with the 5th ISRII Meeting. This forum will be open to ISRII members, as well as other professionals, consumers and government representatives interested in e-health. The State of the Art Forum will be held at the John Niland Scientia Building, University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Guest speakers include Kevin Patrick, University of California, David Mohr, Northwestern University and Margaret Morris, a senior research scientist at Care Innovations, an Intel GE Company. Other participants include Pim Cuijpers (VU, Amsterdam), JMIR editor and publisher Gunther Eysenbach, Toronto, Kathy Griffiths and Helen Christensen, Australian National University, Azy Barak, Haifa, Isreal, Ricardo Munoz, San Francisco, Lee Ritterband, Virginia, Gavin Andrews, Nick Titov and Judy Proudfoot, University of New South Wales, Isaac Marks, Gerhard Andersson, Sweden, plus many more leaders in the field.
On Friday, April 8th, JMIR editor Gunther Eysenbach will convene a workshop at the conference to discuss reporting standards for Internet interventions and the new CONSORT-EHEALTH checklist.
JMIR will be publishing an special issue guest edited by ISRII members and containing full papers from the ISRII meeting. The theme issue will be devoted to "Effectiveness, implementation, dissemination, and translation of e-health interventions into policy and practice".

Call for papers: Special Edition of the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR)
New research from the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions
The theme of the JMIR special issue is "Effectiveness, implementation, dissemination, and translation of e-health interventions into policy and practice".
This issue aims to highlight innovative intervention research through the use of the Internet and related technologies to improve health. The focus will be on both new empirical research and important theoretical contributions. Trials examining the efficacy and effectiveness of new and improved interventions for physical and mental disorders; the use of Internet support groups and social media; implementation of smart phones and other emerging technologies; dissemination strategies, research translation methods and ethical issues associated with new e health services are very welcome. Empirical papers addressing issues to do with engagement, adherence, predictors/mediators/moderators of usage and outcome, level of support and translation are also strongly encouraged.
Ten to twelve invitations will be offered to submit a full paper to the special issue. A special category for this JMIR Theme issue has been created for those selected to submit. Once notified of selection please go to http://www.jmir.org/author/submit/1 and select ISRII Theme Issue 2011 as Journal Section in step 1 of the submission process. Peer review will commence and publication is scheduled for October, 2011.
