In a recent study by the authors, Owens and Leonard [23] discovered that soliciting plain-language responses from chatbots to Pr CA screening inquiries significantly enhanced the response’s readability. Conversely, credibility was difficult to ascertain because generative AI chatbots do not consistently reference authoritative information sources [23].

In these superordinate hypotheses, we replicated the same research model for each digital use case, with each testing the same subordinate hypotheses. Therefore, all subordinate hypotheses have the same components.

Furthermore, our search strategy did not include gray literature, meaning evaluations of some PAEHR systems that have not been published in academic journals may have been missed. This review was also limited by having only 1 author screen all the studies and extract the data for analysis. A pragmatic approach to screening was used, where only studies with unclear eligibility for inclusion were screened by a second author.
