Our requirements for submitted manuscripts are in accordance with the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (archived on WebCite here), drawn up by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, last updated in October 2007.
The Uniform Requirements contain useful information on the general structure of biomedical manuscripts, editorial processes, trial registration, links to checklists such as CONSORT etc., which are all relevant to JMIR.
Please skim through these Uniform Requirements first, then carefully read our Instructions for JMIR Authors .
In case of conflicts between the Uniform Requirements and the JMIR Instructions for Authors, the latter takes precedence. For example, JMIR has slightly different requirements for the title page and the order of the sections, has specific requirements for citing URLs (authors must use WebCite to archive cited URLs), and recommends the use of the CHERRIES checklist to report results of online surveys/questionnaires.
The journal editor is a member of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME, www.wame.org), and the Journal of Medical Internet Research is committed to adhere to WAME's principles. The Journal of Medical Internet Research also supports and acts in line with the Editorial Policy Statements of the Council of Science Editors ( http://www.cbe.org/services/draft_approved.cfm - archived at WebCite here).
