Acceptance rate 20-40%: Save yourself the hassle to send around your paper from journal to journal (and hearing after 6 months that it has not even been sent out for peer-review). We will never reject a paper simply due to "space restrictions" (because there are none). Rather, we will accept any reasonable academic paper that fits our scope and which contains valid original data. On the other hand, we are selective enough to publish papers which are expected to be cited often.
Rapid and constructive peer-review. While the chances of publication are high if you did methodologically sound research, our peer-review process is rigorous enough to filter out papers which do not justify publication in an academic journal, therefore preserving the high impact factor of our journal. We decline 60% of submissions because they either do not fit the journal's scope, or contain fundamentally flawed data. On the other hand, papers which are "just" poorly written but contain great data are never rejected, instead, we actively work with authors to produce a publishable manuscript.
Now also (optional) peer-review of grant proposals and research protocols (with or without subsequent publication). Peer-reviewers are paid (and act as consultants) before the research starts.
